Art is a transitional process for me moving from painting the landscape perceptually to one that begins with the essence or mood of a painting. A single mark on the canvas that evolves to a layering process of moving paint around until a harmony or resolution is discovered. There are elements of melody, harmony, and rhythm incorporating a poetic and musical reference. Expressive brushwork, subtle colour and simple forms define the essence of the piece. My work is personal and attuned to an underlying expression of feelings.
